Helena Curtain Ph.D. is an internationally known expert on second language teaching methodology, curriculum development, and bilingual education who has worked as a language educator at all levels. She is the co-author of Languages and Learners: Making the Match (Pearson, 2016). She has served on the ACTFL Executive Board, the CSCTFL board, as president of her state language association WAFLT and as a founding member and Vice President of NNELL. She has received several national and regional awards and has authored numerous articles dealing with second language instruction. She served as Foreign Language Curriculum Specialist for the Milwaukee Public Schools, a system with 100,000 students, and in that capacity coordinated and supervised elementary through high school language and immersion programs. She served as associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and directed the Foreign Language and ESOL teacher preparation programs. She has broad experience working with schools and school districts, and universities, teaching and conducting workshops throughout the United States and internationally in forty countries. Her passion is working with language teachers in empowering learners on the path to language proficiency.

Shihong Zhang, a Ed.D. candidate, the founder of the GRHS Chinese program, the founding President of the New Jersey Chinese Teachers Association (NJCTA). She was named NJ Governor's Educator of the Year for 2021-2022 at Glen Ridge High School and received the Excellence Award in 2023 from the Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, she was recognized as the Educator of the Year by NJCTA and received the BLCUP Award for K-12 Professional Development from CLTA in 2023. Her Chinese program was also distinguished as a top K-12 Chinese Program in the United States by CLTA in 2023. Shihong serves as an AP Chinese Reader, a rater for the Seal of Biliteracy Assessment of Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency (STAMP) Test, and an interviewer for the International Chinese Teacher Qualification Certification. In her presentation titled "Human-AI Hybrid Teaching Approach to Improve Chinese Writing Skills" Shihong Zhang will discuss strategies for enhancing students' writing skills in Chinese, whether for AP, IB, AAPPL, or STAMP exams. She will share classroom tested effective scaffolding processes and ChatGPT prompts to improve students’ writing abilities over time.

Shanman Liao, the 2023 Teacher of the Year at Old Bridge High School, has over 25 years of experience teaching Chinese. She serves as the Vice President of the New Jersey Chinese Teachers Association (NJCTA) and is the Board member of Huaxia South Chinese School. With extensive experience in organizing educational activities, she has been dedicated to overseas Chinese teaching and cultural promotion.In her presentation titled "Bring AI into Professional Growth PDP," Shanman Liao will discuss how to incorporate AI into teachers' Professional Growth Plans. She will highlight the need for Chinese teachers to develop a wide range of skills in the AI era, including technological literacy, educational technology application, data analysis, personalized teaching, interdisciplinary competence, innovation, practical abilities, cross-cultural communication, and global perspectives. These diverse skills are essential for adapting to changes in the educational field and providing students with high-quality, personalized educational services.

Xiaoqin Yin graduated with master's degrees in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from both Minzu University and Seton Hall University. She teaches Chinese Mandarin from novice level to AP level, and works as a curriculum writer at the Newark School of Global Studies. Xiaoqin was honored as the 2022 Teacher of the Year and the 2023 Governor's Teacher of the Year. Xiaoqin will introduce and explore how AI can assist students in their language proficiency examination, ultimately enhancing their language assessment outcomes. Xiaoqin will share her insights on integrating advanced technology into language teaching and learning, and she looks forward to exchanging ideas and learning together with her audience.

Ya Wen is an experienced educator with a Master of Arts in Foreign Language Education and TESOL from New York University. Certified in both New York and New Jersey, she specializes in Chinese, ESL, and Special Education. Since 2014, Ya has taught Chinese at Union Catholic High School, where she founded the Chinese Calligraphy Club. She actively participates in the New Jersey Chinese Teacher Association, contributing articles to the NJCTA WeChat account, organizing events, and engaging in professional development. Additionally, Ya oversees the ESL program and supports students with Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) at Union Catholic, offering academic assistance and emotional support. Her session, "Light Up Your Language Class with AI Tools," will explore how Chinese teachers can use video editing software to create more engaging and dynamic lessons. The session will cover practical strategies for integrating these tools into lesson plans, enhancing student engagement, fostering creativity, and improving learning outcomes. Attendees will learn about selecting the right editing features, basic editing techniques, and innovative ways to make classes more interactive and effective.

Weiwei Yu, a founding teacher for the Chinese programs at The Whitby School and The Pingry School, has been teaching Chinese from K-12 for 20 years. She holds a BA in Chinese Language and Literature from Nankai University, an MA in Communication from Marquette University, and an MA in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from Middlebury College. Recognized for her excellence with the Albert W. Booth Chair for Master Teachers in 2021 and the Woodruff J. English Award in 2015, Weiwei is passionate about mentoring and coaching new Chinese teachers. In addition to her full-time role, she serves as a board member at the Huaxia Chinese School in Bridgewater and Vice President of NJCTA. In her upcoming presentation, she will delve into the framework of integrating AI tools in language education. Her session will provide educators with a framework for making informed decisions about integrating AI into their teaching strategies, with a focus on best practices and reliable evaluation methods.

Dongmei started teaching high school students in 2007 in China, and she got her Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2015. Dongmei started as a Chinese language teacher at Yinghua Academy in 2020. Currently, Dongmei holds licensure in K-12 Chinese Language Teaching. Her professional passion is working with students to help them gain language skills, understand different cultures and prepare them to be global citizens.

Wenting has held several positions since joining the Yu Ming team in 2016. At Yu Ming she has served as a classroom teacher, Teacher Leader, and teaching intern program supervisor after teaching in multiple Chinese Immersion programs in Michigan. Wenting earned two Bachelor’s Degrees in English Teaching and Human Resource Management from ChongQing Normal University and a Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Michigan State University. She holds a California Clear teaching credential and is now currently enrolled in the California Administrative Credentialing program at Reach Institute. Wenting then served the Yu Ming community as Assistant Principal before transitioning to her Director of Academics role.
